Standard Operating Procedures for COVID-19
Staying safe during the coronavirus pandemic
During the coronavirus pandemic, we have new procedures in place to keep you, and ourselves, safe. You can read the Standard Operating Procedures in full below but here are the key points:
I have a "virtual first" policy so when you book your first appointment you will have an online consultation before your face-to-face one. I will screen for COVID-19 symptoms as well as taking a detail history to decide if a physical appointment is appropriate. This is all included in the charge for the first appointment, and if we decide that referring to another health care professional is best then there is no charge.
If we decide a physical appointment is the best next step, I will ask you to self-screen for COVID-19 symptoms (I will too). If there are any changes in your health just let me know and we can re-arrange for a more appropriate time.
During your face-to-face consultation I will be wearing PPE, including a mask, visor, apron and gloves and I'll ask you to wear a mask too (unless you are medically exempt). This conforms to guidance from both the UK government and my professional body, the Society of Sports Therapists.
For subsequent appointments I will ask you to self-screen for COVID-19 symptoms. Again, if anything changes let me know and we can rearrange for another time.
Obviously my usual hygiene procedures including handwashing and cleaning equipment are rigorous as always. Unfortunately I will not be using the towelling couch covers for the time being to facilitate cleaning the couch, and I will ask you to provide you own towels for home visits. I can provide towels, but it does remove one potential point of crossover between us.
Feel free to download the standard operating procedures in full (on the right).
I will explain everything in detail during the virtual appointment, and if you have any questions at all do not hesitate to ask.
